Pedigo\u2019s instrumental fingerstyle pieces are more melodic and introspective than you might expect from a young, self-deprecating Texan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can feel a sense of exploration in Pedigo\u2019s playing; some references to country and western music are not unexpected from an artist with Amarillo roots, but there&#8217;s also a discernible reverence for avant-garde acoustic sounds reminiscent of artists like John Fahey and Leo Kottke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pedigo explains the process of writing \u201cTints of Morning,\u201d saying the main theme got stuck in his ear, despite sounding \u201cborderline schmaltzy, corny, and overly sentimental.\u201d After playing the riff over and over, and over, the song grew into a complete piece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pedigo performs on a Blueridge BG60, that he purchased used for about $300. \u201cIt\u2019s an incredible guitar. When I got my first advance from a record label I told myself, \u2018I\u2019m done with the Blueridge, I\u2019ve outgrown it.\u2019\u201d But after trying out a pricier Martin, he realized his BG60 \u201chad been such a solid guitar. It has such nice bass, and a clear trebly sound that I want in an acoustic.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don&#8217;t let the heavy metal makeup on the <em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/haydenpedigo.bandcamp.com\/album\/letting-go\">Letting Go<\/a><\/strong><\/em> album artwork scare you off.
